Should teachers be forced to put down students' race on test forms?

This is a question I have been debating. Administration for my school
district is telling their teachers that they must place someone's race
on examination forms in order to help improve the gap between White and
Minority students. Should teachers be forced to put a student's race on
a form if the student did not want to put it on there? Is this legal?
And, why when a teacher inquires for reasons to why she is being told to
put race on a form is she not answered by administration? Should these
teachers just sit down and take what is being handed down by
Administration? And, are certain _races not performing as well as others
simply due to their race? Is what Administration doing legal? Are there
any laws prohibiting students and people in general from posting their
race on a form? And, is it legal for forms to make it mandatory to post
info on race?
