*TODAY IN PALESTINE HISTORY...***

*GENEVA** CONVENTION ESTABLISHED*

*August 12, 1949*

A number of treaties that set the standards for international law for
humanitarian concerns; primarily the treatment of non-combatants and
prisoners of war. Israel apparently considers itself an exception as
they continually violate these international standards.

*TEL AL-ZAATAR MASSACRE*

*August 12, 1976*

This Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon was ethnically cleansed when
the inhabitants were massacred by the right wing Christian militias led
by the Phalange. It is estimated that nearly 3,000 civilians were killed.
